Most of the artwork included here was created with the pure intention of feeding a creative need. With all the amazing tools we currently have at our disposal to create art, I like to push myself and explore all the different paths that technology enable us to discover. The pieces presented range from traditional illustration, digital, 2D, 3D modeling and VR. Art in general informs and expands much of what I can do as a visual designer, that's way I keep coming back to it for more inspiration.
Illustration (digital, traditional and in vector form) is one of my creative tools that I like to keep always sharp. It allows me express ideas in so many different forms and it's constantly pushing me to better understand composition, shapes and how light works.
3D & VR
Technology is just another tool that sometimes enables us to expand our abilities in a very radical way. I firmly believe that VR will become the new standard way to prototype many ideas that require us to think in 3D. In my case, it removes entirely the need to understand how to traditionally model in 3D by directly shaping forms and things like one would do using clay at the time of sculpting.
Because we haven’t gotten around the incredible amount of processing power needed to render things inside of VR, that’s how I started to dig a little deeper into understanding rendering engines, materials and traditional 3D software in general. I’m very curious about the direction 3D and VR (AR and MR too!) will be taking in the years to come, so I want to be prepared to see what that will mean to design and how much I can learn from it.
